EK STEEL SHIP BREAKING

SHIP RECYCLING FOR A GREENER WORLD

About us

Ek Steel Ship Breaking, established in 2010, recycles ships to create a greener world.

Who We Are

Founded by Mohammed Elias in 2010, Ek Steel Ship Breaking has successfully dismantled nearly 100 decommissioned ships. Our mission is to recover valuable materials like steel, scrap metal, and reusable parts—such as generators, engines, cranes, and propellers—from old vessels. These materials are supplied to industries across the country, contributing to the national steel supply chain.

By recycling and reusing these components, we help reduce the need for new raw materials and minimize environmental impact. We are proud to lead in sustainable ship recycling while supporting industries with high-quality, reclaimed materials. Our commitment to safety, efficiency, and environmental responsibility drives everything we do, ensuring that we continue to be a trusted partner in the industry.

Our Mission

Our mission is to lead the way in ship recycling by efficiently dismantling decommissioned vessels, recovering valuable materials, and reducing environmental waste. We aim to support industries nationwide with reclaimed resources, fostering a more sustainable world through responsible recycling and resource management.

Our Values

We are guided by core values that include integrity, sustainability, innovation, safety, and community. These principles drive us to operate with honesty, continuously improve our processes, prioritize safety, and contribute positively to both the environment and the industries we serve. We believe in creating lasting partnerships and driving positive change through responsible practices.

Our Philosophy

Ek Steel Ship Breaking, our philosophy is rooted in sustainability, where we strive to balance resource recovery with environmental stewardship. We are committed to responsible recycling practices that maximize the value of decommissioned ships while minimizing their impact on the planet, ensuring a greener future for generations to come.

Message from Chairman

Since I founded Ek Steel Ship Breaking in 2010, we have successfully dismantled nearly 100 decommissioned ships, recovering valuable materials and supporting the steel industry. Our work goes beyond recycling steel; we also reuse parts like engines, generators, and cranes, helping many industries across the country.
Our mission is clear: Ship Recycling for a Greener World. By reusing valuable materials and reducing the need for new resources, we minimize environmental impact and contribute to a sustainable future.
I want to thank our dedicated team, partners, and clients for helping us achieve this success. Together, we’ll continue working towards a cleaner, greener world.
Thank you.

Our History

Since 2010, Ek Steel Ship Breaking has pioneered sustainable ship dismantling and material recovery.

2010-2012: The Beginning of a Vision
Ek Steel Ship Breaking was founded in 2010 by Mohammed Elias, aiming to innovate the ship recycling industry. During this time, the global economy was recovering from the 2008 financial crisis, and demand for recycled materials was steadily increasing. Bangladesh’s ship breaking industry was expanding rapidly, making the country one of the largest players in global ship recycling. The economy of Bangladesh was also growing, with industries focused on exports and infrastructure development, despite challenges in regulatory practices and safety concerns.
2013-2017: Growth Amid Global Shifts
From 2013 to 2017, the global economy stabilized, with industrial growth in developing nations driving up the demand for recycled materials, particularly steel. Bangladesh’s ship-breaking industry continued to flourish, though it faced issues like fluctuating steel prices and environmental concerns. Ek Steel expanded its operations, improving processes to recover more materials and meet growing demands. The country’s economy was strengthening, with export industries such as garments and shipbreaking seeing steady growth, and Ek Steel played a key role in the national steel supply chain.
2018-2020: Adapting to Global Challenges
During 2018-2020, the global landscape was marked by trade tensions and the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, which disrupted economies worldwide. Bangladesh, like many nations, faced a slowdown, especially in exports and manufacturing, while the ship breaking industry continued to operate. Ek Steel adapted quickly by implementing stringent safety protocols and maintaining operations during the pandemic. Despite the challenges, the demand for sustainable practices remained strong, and Ek Steel continued to provide essential reclaimed materials to support industries at a time of global crisis.
2021-2025: Embracing Sustainability and Technological Advancements
In the post-pandemic world, the focus on sustainability intensified globally, with more industries pushing for greener practices. Bangladesh also prioritized environmental initiatives within the ship-breaking industry and other sectors. Ek Steel embraced this shift by investing in new technologies to improve efficiency and material recovery. As the economy of Bangladesh began to recover, with export sectors like textiles and shipbreaking regaining momentum, Ek Steel’s growth reflected the rising demand for sustainable, high-quality reclaimed materials to support global industries.
